The Queensland branch held a planning meeting at the SAAA hall at Archerfield Aerodrome on
Monday, 16th January 2006 which was attended by Des Goss, Phillip Audsley, Peter
Venn, Arthur Stead, Bill & Lin Kaald and Steven Odgaard.
Cruise report - Logan River, Eagleby - Sunday 22nd January 2006.
The first Queensland club cruise for 2006 proved to be popular with six craft on the Logan River at
Eagleby. This was on Sunday, 22nd January and the cruise took us upstream to Bethania and
then on to Waterford.
Hats off to Barry Fennell who left Maryborough at 4:15 am to be at the ramp on time for a 9:00
am launch with his Nell Viper 4X.
Another long distance visitor was Neville Bennett who drove north for almost 2½ hours from
Evans Head with his Turbo Vortex in tow.
Peter Ledwoch and Ann Dickinson drove from Mermaid Waters on the Gold Coast and it was good
to see them again after a 4 year break. Their Simple Cyclone was in fine form and no longer takes
on water when stationary on the river. A fibreglass porosity problem that was more difficult to
repair than Peter first imagined.
The regular diehards were there and mighty pleased to be in such good company for a pleasant cruise
in good weather conditions.

Neville demonstrated his craft’s extraordinary power to weight by thrusting up the long steep
Bethania boat ramp from a standing water’s edge start. I believe he was even carrying Ann
Dickinson as a passenger at the time. Barry also had impressive speed and manoeuvrability
with his Hearth powered Viper.
All craft returned to Eagleby without mechanical incident and after a bit of fun helping Barry unlock
his early model holden’s boot lid without the use of keys, we regrouped at a very popular Yatala pie
shop for lunch and a nice chin wag before departing homeward bound.
Interstate News:-
Unfortunately the reunion at Lake Cargelligo NSW (21/22 Jan) has been postponed due to a lack
of attendees. Ken Osmond advised that the AGM may be held there closer to Easter when the
weather is cooler. Melbourne has had temperatures up to 42 degrees this week and it is a
reminder of how hot it can be at Lake Cargelligo, this time of year.
