The Queensland branch of The Australian Hovercraft Federation held a planning meeting on Tuesday, 16th
January 2018, at the Coopers Plains Library in Orange Grove Road.

Cruise report - Muriel St, Redland Bay - Sunday 14th January 2018.
The last club cruise was held on Sunday 14th January 2018, launching from 96 Muriel Street, Redland Bay
courtesy of Peter and Elaine Venn and cruising from Redland Bay Channel to Coochiemudlo Island.

Peter Venn lead the pack in his latest acquisition Revtech Renegade RM043Q, followed by Ben Woodhead and Neil Budworth in the Turbo XP 960 at 9:50 am, then Angus and Cameron Kerr in the Viper 4 Cruiser, Les Taylor in the Phoenix, Larry Franks and Douglas Barrenger in the Norm UH18SPW, followed up by Kim Allen and lan Lind in Zesty.
Ben and Neil blew a head gasket on the Suzuki G10 1 Litre engine and so Ben travelled back to base with Angus and Cameron in the Viper 4 Cruiser and Peter Venn travelled back at a cracking pace with a water police escort who were unable to travel over shallows. Peter was cautioned back at the pontoon about speeding near a moored sailing boat near the Muriel Street boat ramp and requested to turn on his amber flashing light.

Neil Budworth stayed with the disabled Turbo XP 960 on the beach at Coochiemudlo Island and so did
Kim, lan and Les. Angus and Cameron were despatched in the rescue boat Quintrex Fish Raider with
50hp Yamaha at 11:16 am and Lucas Kerr and Kirra followed in the Viper 4 Cruiser at 11:22 am. The
President's stricken hovercraft was towed back to Victoria Point where Ben Woodhead was able to
retrieve it with his campervan and trailer at about midday.
A jetskier was rescued by hovercraft near the Coochiemudlo beach after his V sheet was ignored by
several other boats. All returned to base in time for lunch by 12:47 pm.

We had 21 people, 8 hovercraft and 2 boats for the cruise today.

QPWS news:-
QPWS has been reshuffled within the former Department of National Parks, Sport and Racing (NPSR) and
Environment and Heritage Protection (EHP), and will now become the Department of Environment and
Science. See their website for more details.
While you are there, have a good look around if you have a few hours to spare.
Queensland State Rally:
The next Queensland State Rally will be held at Lake Coolmunda over the 4 days: 6th to 9th of July
2018. Powered sites at the caravan park can be secured by phoning Troy or Idalia on 07 4652 4171 or
0418 665692. There will also be plenty of unpowered sites near the waters edge. Quiet generators are
ok during daylight hours.
The lake has proven to be one of the most suitable hovercrafting destinations in Australia, as confirmed by
the successful "Sam Waugh Memorial AHF National Rally 2017".
Next club cruise:-
The next club cruise will be held on Sunday 11th February 2018 at Muriel St, Redland Bay.
Meet at 9:00am at 96 Muriel St, Redland Bay for a launch into the Redland Bay Channel.

Next Queensland branch meeting:
The next club meeting will be held on Tuesday 20th February 2018 at 7:30pm.
It will be held in the Coopers Plains Library at 107 Orange Grove Road, Coopers Plains.
There is plenty of parking at the rear of the library building via Bosworth Street off Orange Grove Road.
