Spirits lifted at Camp Quality
|
A chance to take a ride on a hovercraft, pony, train or tractor was too much of a
temptation for more than 180 kids at the recent Camp Quality activity day.
The children, all suffering from cancer, enjoyed a day of fun and games at Mt Crosby
Oval when they celebrated the fifth Camp Quality and Ipswich - Bremer River Lions
Club annual camp reunion.
|
They were joined by more than 310 parents and 580 helpers.
Club vice-president Ken Beitzel said a slippery slide, merry go round, abseiling
activities, a dancing troupe and an animal farm were further attractions.
"It started five years ago as a barbecue and has grown dramatically since then.
It is now one of the biggest
|
camps of its kind in the region," Mr Beitzel said.
He thanked Ipswich City Council for providing a stage for the dancers and New
Hope Colliery for donating the money for the rides.
Camp Quality is a non-profit organisation which co- ordinates the day for children aged from three to 16.
